Holy Cow 2010 Where Did You Go!?

Wow, 2010 really did fly by! So much has happened since I last posted on here. Phase II of zombie cupcakes did indeed come out cuter and better, well more morbidly cute that is. They were featured on a few websites during for halloween and they still seem to be my biggest sellers besides my rings. I'm also finished with school! Due to deadline issues though I won't actually get my diploma until May though :P I'll still call myself an anthropologist anyways xD I'm so excited. Next stop: masters!

I also found my wedding dress. Its lovely and I can't wait to walk down the aisle in it :* I've gotten pretty used to our apartment and its finally started to feel more like home. I've also discovered dance central which has been sucking up all my free time since Christmas lol. Yes, I may be addicted to it and we may need to have an intervention soon D:

I attempted to purchase a booth at a local craft store called Craftique but they want a seriously large amount of money each month that I'm afraid to sign a contract for. Its not that I don't think I would make my money back to cover the cost of the booth each month but that I'm scared I won't make much profit after that :/ While no one else in the location sells anything like what I make it seems its more for selling "antiques" and costume jewelry than charms and decoden items lol. Sigh, I guess I should at least try right :] Who knows, I could bring the business!

I also attempted to get a table at SanJapan , the local anime convention in my city but alas it sold out in 30 mins. I honestly cried when I found out since I'd missed my chance by 10 min. They only had 30 table though so I guess what else could I expect right. Next year I will get one though!! (Although, I think I said that last year too hahaha)

I sold charms at work for Christmas and made a little bit of money at least and my etsy shop has seemed to pick up a little bit :D I did do my first "trade" too, however, I haven't received my half of it yet. I'm starting to get worried :S I think I'm to gullible some times ^^' Hopefully, having said that, it will arrive tomorrow *crosses fingers* Anyways, here's a little pic of my charm tray at work!

I had signs all over it and one that said "great stocking stuffers" that everyone teased me about but hey its true! Cute little things like that are awesome to find if you give out stockings or get them! My future mother-in-law does awesome stuff like that lol and I look forward to that damn stocking every year xD I sold a WHOLE lot more than I did last year at the door though so that made me happy. It made me feel like I've improved somewhat. Some people even asked if I had bought them to sell which I guess in a way is a backhanded compliment no?

A friend of mine also commissioned me to make some charms for him as well, an otter, a raccoon, and a turtle. Since it had been a while since I'd made any animals I went crazy and made a whole bunch (which I'm still painting lol)

My GaiaOnline clay thread seems to be going well. I've got a few good lurkers and friends in there sharing their works and techniques with each other. Kawaii Clay Charms is what its called and if you have an account you should really check it out. Lots of helpful charm making tips and what not going on in there :] I post a new tutorial every month and have a small little themed contest as well, although those don't seem to be going smoothly ^^'

I guess I'll close this post out with my 2010 art summary to show my "improvement" over the year in my clay skills, I think it can best be seen in my steampunk works ;D

I hope y'all have a Happy New Year. My new years resolution for this blog is to make it more clay craft helpful lol like my gaiaonline thread. Wish me luck!

A New Semester

School has started! My last semester has started! Well, unless I can get an internship in the spring my last semester has started!! I'm excited. So far the year is a good one, granted its only been one week lol. I've mostly gotten over my copycat rant...I know I know, let is go :P

Well, sadly since its a new semester that means less time to devote to charms, I hope to crank out a few on the weekends but I can't promise anything. I did however finally get around to making a zombie related charm xD Behold! Zombie Cupcakes GO Rawr *drum roll*

I think they're cute. Phase II of zombie cupcakes will be better including things I forgot to put on these that I meant too lol (eg..blood splatter possibly some wiggly worms)

I finally got around to making those waffles I've been threatening to do. They didn't turn out as well as I had hoped but eh they're decent :D I haven't quite gotten the hand of the whole "browning" with pastels down yet and I can't find any fimo liquid clay thus my un-clear syrup :P

Finding the right shade of brown was difficult too. My first try restulted in chocolate instead of maple syrup xD I also attempted to get fancy and make heart shaped ones as well..not good times is all I've got to say about that matter lol! Once I've got a worthy batch I'll be sure to post them for y'all to see. Until then, take care!!

Annoyed (rant)

So, I never thought it would happen to me but it seems I have a charm copy cat. There is a thin line between making something your own and flat out copying and I feel like that line is being crossed. I don't mind if you look at my work and fashion yours after it but at least give credit where credit is due. Don't flat out post your work claiming it your own creation and then ask for my opinion on it...honestly...that's just embarrassing!

Of course I'm flattered that someone liked my work so much they thought they would try it out for themselves, however, I'm annoyed that they would try to pass it off as their own. No, they didn't steal my images which I am grateful for (and now I have to go an play ugly watermarks all over for fear of that happening) but they copy my creations almost to exact likeness. *sigh* I don't like complaining because I feel it really doesn't solve anything. blarg!

I guess I should be thankful that they tried to make their rain cloud look slightly different :P And no...making it a necklace doesn't mean its different because the original is a cell charm :P

Chocolate Chip Cookie Overload

So...yeah I believe I've gone a little bit overboard with the cookies!!! The cookies have taken over!!! I'm really happy with how they all turned out. I made some cute little stud earrings. I thought it was time to back off the dangles for a while lol. I also made some super cute adjustable rings as well as badge reels :D

Things have been so crazy. My last semester of collage is about to start so I'm super excited and nervous all at the same time! I went in to speak with my Support work advisor and he helped me feel more positive about my career options. The only thing that sucks is that I have to get my masters before I can actually get a job in an archaeology related field :P

There was big drama last night between me and my carpet. I spilled a HUGE pile of white paint all over my apartment floor yesterday and called my mother crying because I couldn't think of how to get it out. Needless to say a trip to CVS and 2 shamwows later it was all gone ^_^'

My AC is hopefully fixed. After a whole month of bitching they finally came, took the unit apart, and finally fixed it! Yay, cold air!! I also have a nice long conversation with the repair man about Batman, Marvel/DC comics, and Joss Whedon. It was unexpected and cool all at the same time :D Geeks unite!!

I finally got purchased my table for Epikon. I'm excited. I hope I do well there. You can look me up in their forum. My username, of course, is ZombiesGoRawr. I made some cute ID/Badge Reels because I don't like the plain looking ones I see most people wearing. The chocolate chip cookies are the first ones I've made / prototypes lol. I tried to make some Sailor Moon Zodiac ones but...well...they didn't turn out as AWESOME as I had hoped lol. I think maybe I should try and paint those or try resin *ponders*

So, I guess that's if for today :) Did I make it to 2 posts this month?!

It Went By So Fast!

I can't believe that it's already August! Where did the summer go? What did I do with it? Lol, almost nothing which is so very sad :( Alas, I guess that's what happens when you grow up. I did enjoy this summer though. Lost of good things have happened.

The fashion show really wasn't what I had hoped it would be but I did get some exposure *shrug* Only about a third of the promised amount of people actually showed up :P It was fun though. I made some new friends there :] I learned that children generally like my charms and small children want to eat them O_o' I've purchased a table for Epikon, an anime convention that will be taking place in January of 2011. I think I'll sell a whole lot better there :D Again, I'm super excited and have lots of ideas for products I'd like to make. I'm also attempting to sew my own lolita costume ^^' Wish me luck xD

I finally made the sushi charms I've been threatening to do forever! They were a pain to make! I tried to follow a tutorial that made it all look so incredibly easy...LIES I say!! Okay, maybe they weren't that hard but still...I don't know if I'll want to try a third batch (yes third..)Some of my clay was kind of hard while I tried to roll them into the cane to cut. Next time I think I'll try adding some of that clay softening liquid :3

They turned out pretty good I think. Not bad for the first and second attempts. I think I like my black ones better than the green ones ;D The crying one and the kissy face sushies are my favorites. The back of the crying one got all messed up when I was cutting it so his emotion I think are pretty accurate xD

Also, I decided it was time to take better pictures of my products. I played around with angles and props to try and make the photos more interesting and click worthy. I'm proud of my macroon photo the most lol.

As you can see I still have to work on my lighting >< I can't seem to find a bright enough light-bulb for my lamp. I guess I'm gonna have to bring over my architecture lamp from my parents house. I think the fork and the doily give it character though. In the individual shots I even placed the macroons on small doll house plates hahaha.

I plan on updating this blog hopefully most than once a month. I'm going to shoot for once a week..so here's hoping! Keep your fingers crossed! Oh, and if you have a GaiaOnline account I have a thread in the Craft and Textiles Forum called Kawaii Clay Charms You should come check it out! Its full of other people who love cute charms and tips and trick on how to make 'em!!

Until next post, take care :]

Summer Cuteness Has Arrived

I have defiantly been a busy bee these last couple of months. I am official in my new apartment with my wonderful fiancé! And I think We only have 3 boxes left to unpack that honestly I don't think I'll ever get around to unpacking xD All three of our kitties are now getting along! Thank God! For a while we were afraid Kittyface was going to murder Winchester D:

I've been making LOTS of charms. The fashion show I bought a booth for is two weeks away! I'm so excited and at the same time super super nervous D: I've got a good assortment though. I hope i sell well *crosses fingers* I'm still not exactly sure how to price things though :P I'm planning on doing a lot of buy 2 get 1 deals. I also made adorable business cards though I can't quite get photo shop to print them correctly alighnment wise...

I've also sold all of my cupcake rings! EXCITING!! But I've made a whole bunch more :D Need to get on that whole photo shoot ;D But there are some samples of what I've been working on for The Daughter's of Eve Fashion Show!

Yep, just in time fore summer some cute frozen treat charms, earrings, necklaces, and rings :D First up we have some adorable little Cutesicles that are perfect for those hot summer days lacking in cuteness :D Each one comes with a cute little picnic bow and strap to attach to your cell phone, purse, handheld gaming system, zippers, camera, or even your shoes!

I also decided to make some cute ice cream scoop necklaces with matching earrings. Each scoop hang on lovely satin ribbon and is paired with a pair of dangle earrings. I think perhaps I should make some more with rhinestones to give them a little extra bling :D

I've also made a huge pile of emo heart and star bracelets. They're adorable if I do say so myself. Each bacelet houses 6 charms each with a different expression! So far there are 20 total :D I will post a picture of the pile soon! For now, I will post the prototype bracelet (which is equally cute.

So yes, more craziness to come soon! Comment me! <3

I'm very much alive

Hahaha, so alot has happened since my last post! My boyfriend of three years proposed to me on Feb 12th! So we're finally officially engaged. I'm so excited and happy about this although my parents seem to want to take over all the planing including my what dress I get and the guest list. Less exciting, but I'm working on them :D

There is apartment drama too! My fiancé and I have been on a waiting list to lease an apartment for almost two months. His lease ends in May and we've been praying that the apartment we want opened up by then and one did! We've been waiting to hear from the complex and they finally called us yesterday to tell us they had one open and then randomly put us on hold, hung up on his, and then when we called back our apartment was mysteriously pre-leased to someone else! Crazy right?! Needless to say I'm very upset with the complex and honestly heart broken over it but they have another floor plan that is similar to it so we'll see. I'm not sure I trust them to hold this one for us now :(

In charm related news I'm a little stressed out. The convention I've been wanting to buy a table at his currently sold out and I've been trying to get on the waiting list which currently has 20+ people on it. Hopefully I make it through *crosses fingers* I may have also gotten a commission for 25 charms but I've yet to hear back from the client to confirm whether or not they actually do want me to make them or not. I wish they would respond so that I don't have to be in limbo over making them or not. I guess I could start them and just sell them at the con if I get in lol.

I Scream You Scream We All Scream for Ice Cream

Well aside from forgetting all about the three article I need to read for my Death and Dying class on Monday it was pretty productive craft wise lol. I made a bunch of really cute clay ice cream scoop rings and a couple of pairs of ice cream scoop earrings xD

Each ring includes a 20mm swirl ice cream scoop with little acrylic gems on sterling silver rings :3 No need to worry about sizing because the rings are adjustable! The earrings feature 10mm scoops making them a decent size but not overwhelming <3>

Hello and Welcome!

Wow, I must say it has been a long time since I've had a blog! I've recently discovered a new found love of clay charms and jewelry making and have decided to try and get my creation out there ^^' It looks like a blog is a good way to do that these days. Advertise, advertise, advertise is the general idea no?

A little about myself:
I'm 25 years old and am about to graduate from the University of Texas at San Antonio. My degree is in anthropology with a focus in archaeology. So basically I hope to one day be Indiana Jones minus the Nazis lol.
I have an intense love for very cute things, the colour purple, kitties, zombies, cookies, Mat the love of my life, Japanese pop culture, and manga/anime related art and shows. My humor is slightly morbid and I've got to be one of the biggest nerds on the planet. So if you've got any question feel free to ask!
